Hi everyone,

We need to prepare for the upcoming coaching and junior interclub season. There have been a few changes to interclub that parents will need to familiarise themselves with.

Please review the information below for both junior interclub and non-interclub (hotshots) members:

Junior non-interclub – Hotshots
1.Registrations are open and many of you would have received your renewal. Please register online and select the category and/or session you would like.
2. Saturday hotshot sessions for the first week will be at 8.30am and 9.30am – choose one only please.
3. Tuesday afternoon hotshots are for children that have other sport commitments on Saturday mornings. We unfortunately have only 30 positions, so the first to register and pay will guarantee their spot. Tuesday hotshots doesn’t start until term 4, so the children are more than welcome to attend the Saturday sessions in the meantime.
4. At this stage we will be unable to have an official Opening Day – when alert levels permit we will just commence with the schedule as outlined

Junior Interclub
1. Registrations are open and you would have received your renewal via email. Please register online as an interclub player. We will have the sheets up at the club for you to add your names to, however this can only happen at Level 2. In the meantime you may email the club with any preferences, remember that there have been rule changes, this may affect options – read on below
2. There are 4 age groups now - 10 and under, 12 and under,14 and under and 15 years and over, which is now the junior Open grade. Children must play in their age group as mandated by Tennis Canterbury. Children qualify for their age group as at 31/12/2021.
3. Interclub assessment days are September 11, 18 and 25.
  Session 12 and under – 10.30 – 11.30am.
  Session 13 and over – 11.30 – 12.30pm.
4. No Challenger grades this season, replaced by Division 1 grades in each age group.
5. Please note age 10’s Division 1 on Saturday – not Friday.
6. Junior interclub starts October 29th and 30th .

Finally no child may play senior interclub if 14 and under, without playing junior interclub. Some dispensations for the nationally ranked juniors may apply.

Thanks everyone.

There is a fully licenced bar to cater for members needs.

New guidelines for playing tennis at ETC under Alert Level 2 plus or 2.5
Hi everyone,
The good news is we can now play tennis with less restrictions under level 2 plus. The not so good news is that there are still some considerable restrictions regarding the use of the clubrooms. Please review the points below:
1. Under Level 2 Plus, tennis is allowed both socially and for organised play. Saturday afternoon social will operate from 1.30pm, however there will be no afternoon tea served and it is unlikely the bar will be open due to the spacing requirements – this (the bar) may change once we receive further guidance. Please bring your own drink and/or food if you require a break throughout the afternoon.
2. Saturday morning junior coaching will take place with sessions at 8.30am and 9.30am each for 1 hour.  If you need to register please use the following link: or call the club on 355 8377
Sam’s coaching groups can recommence, please contact the club or Sam on 0223677905 for more details.

3. Wednesday night tennis starts formally from 15th September
4. The seasons Opening Days will not take place until we can accommodate larger numbers, with less social distancing and the ability to provide afternoon tea without all of the current encumbrances.
5. When attending the club please ensure all members and/or parents scan the QR codes located at the entrances to clubhouse and to the toilets. Please wear a mask if you have to go to the toilets or enter the clubrooms. For the most part we will require the members to remain outside unless using the toilets or seeing Ashley to register for membership.
I will update you further once we get additional guidance from Tennis NZ and Sport NZ.
The great news is that we can all play tennis again, virtually without restriction, albeit with a little less social interaction – fingers crossed we can resume a ‘normal life’ soon with us all enjoying that social aspect that makes being a member of Elmwood Tennis all that more enjoyable.
